TCIAA Gifted New Porter Trolleys

PROVIDENCIALES, Turks & Caicos Islands; Thursday, February 20, 2014 – The Turks and Caicos Islands Airports Authority has been gifted with 8 oversized baggage trolleys by the local VIP Flyers Club. This donation was made in order to better serve the traveling public at Providenciales International Airport.

The trolleys will be used by resident Porters that operate from the airport to facilitate movement of passenger baggage to the Check In area. The Baggage Porters are not employees of TCIAA, but they offer a valuable service to passengers that request their assistance. These self-employed persons offer their services in exchange for a tip compensation. Although the Porters are not employees, they are directed to operate according to TCIAA standards whilst working on airport property. Management of the local porters has taken a positive shift as they are held accountable for their actions and are even made to wear a uniform in order to offer a higher level of service at this five star destination. The self-service trolleys will also receive a boost as management will be having a number of trolleys added to the depleted fleet.

The donation of items is not a new concept to the TCIAA. This entity’s aim is to foster a positive relationship between stakeholders and the wider community. As is customary, the TCIAA wishes to publically thank, the Management of the VIP Flyers Club, as well as all entities that have offered assistance now and any time in the past. This sincere act of generosity should encourage others to donate for the benefit of all that pass through the terminal building. This kind gesture will certainly enhance the experience of all that chose to use the curbside porter service.
